Was in the loft getting the Xmas decorations out the other weekend and found all my old subbuteo stuff.
I reckon it was one of my best Xmas presents when I was a kid. I think I might start trying to construct a mini-stadium in the garage....then again maybe this is a step too far.

I painted the Three Degrees black and gave Batson an afro by superglueing on top of his head and painting it black. I should have done Godden too but I didn't have any Humbrol paints in yellow for his hair.

The football was good. I played the rugby once and found it to be almost as shite as the real thing.
The cricket came nowhere close to the later "Test Match Cricket" which was quite fun.
One Christmas I had the "Subbuteo Football Express" 5-a-side.
Does anybody remember that or did I dream it?

I remember being flummoxed when the subbuteo game I'd pestered my parents for for months turned up under the tree. I never really found out how to use it.

I had the 5 a side express as well, along with the snooker one which was really awful ! Still have my yellow and green striped away side from 1981 in the loft somewhere along with tons of other subbuteo football stuff. I'll locate it when I bung all the decorations up the first week of Jan !!

I have a full Subbuteo stadium with astro turf up my loft somewhere I think. My dad always went on about some footy game he had when he was kid which was "much better" involved the pitch being raised up a little and you controlled your players with sticks with magnets on the end which moved the players round on top. If you went under an opposing player the magnet could knock them over resulting in a foul. Dunno what it was called. As a kid I always loved Tomy's SuperCupFootball, although I have a feeling the pitch would fit in my hand now and I would probably break the knobs off whilst playing with it.

My mate had one of those SuperCupFootball games! Now that was good although it always reminded me of Ice Hockey instead of football.

Jeez there is some money in old toys! I was gutted when speaking to my parents about the amount of old stuff of mine that they got rid of!
