First, thanks to everyone for making this board a great place for the last year or so, and in its previous proboard iteration. Thanks also to Birdman for arranging the new site, and for Rich et al for laying out the facts on the attractions of the new thing. Still, I'm staying here and will post occasionally until the plug is pulled whereafter Bibbel will retire.
I've ejoyed this version of the bored and feel a sense of ownership of it, and camaraderie from it. A lot of this stems back to reading and following so many of the earlier crew who were usually sensible and thoughtful - even when silly and twattish.
Recently there's been an influx from elsewhere and frankly many of their posts and warrior poses are laughable: why x should be strung up; what they'd do if Y came close, and why X deserves lead piping. These new types dominate on the new bored and it's hard to see through to the stuff worth reading. In a sense it's their board now.
This would be a flounce, though most everyone else has split the joint.
ENDS

I paid £1.99 for a MCW app so I'll take a look every now and again. Don't go Bibbel!! We need a Danish correspondent.

I'm staying here because I'm lazy. And because the loss of a years worth of posts has been just blinked away when it's really like the burning of the Alexandria library. Never again.

It's a messageboard, not a privately owned library that's been taken over by a rogue, Neanderthal clan of vigilantes. Some posts on there are laughable, some are intelligent, some are thought provoking, some you wish you hadn't bothered opening. That's been the case for as long as I have known this place, and messageboards in general. If you're flicking through the TV channels to find something to watch, and scroll onto something that looks shit, you flick the channel over to the next one. You don't throw the tv through the window.

The message board is and always has been called wbaunofficial. Whether using rivals network, proboards or birdys site.
Its about the community, not the surrounds.
If you don't like the community fair enough. Totally understand.
Reasons for staying on here other than that are akin to Bolton fans still turning up on a saturday at burnden park because they don't like the reebok.
The website is unofficial.com. The best independant community, in my opinion, on t'internet. We have just moved home...thats all. Its not a new forum.

I don't get on and agree with everyone in the community - just like i don't get on and agree with everyone in Blackheath, same principle.
The different types of people and the views they hold are what makes "rivals" what it is - when you plough through all the crap a very friendly and diverse community of people with a common interest.

I realise I'm being pedantic here (and that the argument had nothing to do with me) but the majority of the posters who were involved in the lead piping thread weren't new.

Bibb's OP is, as always, absolutely to the point. Sooner or later I've followed every other move since the original 'Rivals' setup (if not always with promptness or enthusiasm); this time I'm not sure.
Anyway, right now I'm in Kingussie, looking for marsh harriers, pine martens and proper haggis.

We very often get these threads where "things ain't what they used to be" stuff. I've been following WBA Unofficial in its various guises for over 10 years now and it really isn't that much different from what it's always been. It's just a message board lads (and lasses), we don't have to share the same room with each other.

This would be a flounce, though most everyone else has split the joint. ENDS Staying put too Pal. I will lurk on the other bored especially on match days when I can't get a stream but from what I have seen so far you are missing nothing. I share your sentiments but differ slightly in the analysis. I understand the point on the 'recent' recruits but that is not the cause for my disaffection. The 'Ponners' 'Cliquesters' and their sycophants piss me off even more nowadays with their light the touch paper and retire attitude. Freddy's Prince Phillip post is a perfect example - either a shameful disregard of human life (even for a closet right winger) or a gratuitous attempt to throw bread at the seagulls and see how much they will eat (probably for a MCW bet). Also Bibs I don't think you can isolate the laughable posts to the newbies as many of yours have been a clickwaster too! (96.3% of mine have been) For me its other reasons. I am too old for this continual left wing/right wing - hang em/save em - cook it/shag it diatribe. Its got too much like the drunken shoite I used to handle on a weekend. Its boring, usually spouted by keyboard warriors with no real idea and above all very very tiresome. Do you play chess? You can move once every Christmas day and I shall move once every Easter Sunday. P.S. The thing that really pisses me off is posters that change their identity.
