With the new season starting this weekEnd I can't remember ever feeling so flat ahead of a kick off before... I feel about the same towards the Chelsea game as I did towards England-Hungary last night!! I'm really looking forward to getting back to games and the Saturday routine but I just don't have the same enthusiasm I've had in recent years!
Last time we went up I was convinced Mowbray was the man to lead a footballin revolution... The time before I was convinced Megson had learnt and we would follow the charlton and Bolton method of survival with Kanu and Koumas' tekkers to entertain... And well first time round I just couldn't believe we were there!!
I just feel like relegation is a certainty this season and that we've not even made a go of it, that we're destined to continue looking up at clubs like Blackburn, Fulham, Wigan and Blues and think "why can't we do that?"

I'm kind of with you there mate.
Anything better than a 3-0 defeat on Saturday will feel like a moral victory to me.
I will start getting excited before the Sunderland game as I don't do the away ones anymore.
I try to not get too down as I think RDM is a bit more clued up about things than "all defence Sir Gary" and "all attack Mowbray" were and is addressing the problem areas highlighted in our last Prem season and if he get's a striker or two then who knows we might just do it.
As for looking up at Blackburn, Fulham, Wigan and Blues it's all to do with ownership these clubs.

That Grey haired winger for Exeter was the BEST player on the field

I remember ex Soton striker Steve Moran playing for em - and Bally squeaking instructions from the bench
that winger bagged a curler near the end didnt he - was it Marshall?

I'm with you man. I'm just looking forward to some pre-authorised time off for a few beers with the boys (I'm intentioned to take Sid up on his offer of meeting the clique sometime this season). The football I can take or leave but, come Saturday week, I'll be 5 beers better and will get behind the lads (TM) - I'll gob off, Boingmundial and his missus will laugh at me smuggling beer into the stadium and, by the following day I'll probably be horse but the enthusiasm will be back like genital worts. I can't wait (until this Saturday's over!).

Arf mowbray lead a football revolution? A fuckwit revolution you mean another project believer. Do you believe in magic and leprechauns too? Nothing wrong with a dose of realism and a lot of folk share your views. It's hardly exciting but 2-3 more in in the right positions we will be ok. Rdm is not a fuckwit like Walter nor a one trick pony like megson believe!

Bit harsh lad - a lot of us had pre season hope/delusion that we'd outscore the opposition more often than we didn't. There's an argument that if we didn't have Johnno in the middle we might have done so...

I didn't anticipate such pointless crabbery, mind. This season, well I'm getting sick of the money that clubs are in hock over to over-remunerate players and all the shite that it takes to get a foothold. It's depressing.

TBF I'm half supportive of Roland's position of not paying those stupid fucking wages - it's socialism innit.

I am with you. I have a load of mates going to the local club to watch the match on Sat and I have declined because its the Baggies. I am going in to town to watch it somewhere with my Missus with a nice bottle of wine and a curry afterwards. I understand all the arguments about not putting the club in jeopardy but with this squad it will inevitably mean relegation. I am fed up with having to excuse our willingness to head back to the Champs. I know there is 3 weeks of the window open but we will not bring anyone in of any note. I am sure the usual happy clappers will start slinging their brick bats now but it is my opinion. I am not depressed about it by the way - just realistic. Also I actually prefer the Champs because it is a much fairer compettion. (Helmet On)

Just noticed this Soph: "I'm intentioned to take Sid up on his offer of meeting the clique sometime this season". Good stuff. Let me know when and we'll head on down to (probably) the vine and meet some of the ponners. Van will be late I'm told.

I have decided a different approach this year. I always expect too much and end up frustrated so this year I am looking at it through negative eyes so as to lessen the pain
