I would imagine that TippyTappy, or any other Board member, is much less of a no-mark than Dan Ashworth.

Peace has probably appointed Peace and Co. as his external auditors.
After all, as Chairman, he appointed himself as Cheif Exec.

I wonder how worried we should be, in all seriousness.

I wonder how worried we should be, in all seriousness. Last I heard, it's not as bad as normal flu and expect to be out of action for 2/3 days.

It is not as bad as normal flu and it does last about 2/3 days. Erm.. so I hear. <cough> From someone who is so fuggin ITK he's paid to help plan for epidemics: 'Swine flu is milder than normal flu and you should be away from work for no more than 5 days. The two main risks (because it will not go away this year) are (for the current strain) to those who are already poorly will become more sick than would have expected. Moreso however it's the capacity to mutate into something more powerful that's a bigger risk to the majority'. Swine flu has killed less people in the UK than normal flu would over a similar period. Normally 4000 pa in the UK. That said; it ain't going away and it could get worse. It will kill thousands over the winter. Hate to say I told you sooooo. Yes, the media hyped it up but for once it's fairly accurate.

Interesting call to make for the health authorities this summer: do they order seasonal flu vaccines or swine flu vaccines? There's not enough capacity in the industry to make both in the doses needed, but if swine flu's milder then do we need enough doses for mass vaccination? Also, at what bloody point will they stop dishing out the RV drugs? Can we please not waste tamiflu and relenza on a mild pandemic?

Apparently there's enough for 80% of the population to receive Tamiflu et al. If I had less scruples I'd suggest phoning the pig-flu helpline and telling them that you have swine flu - pop round the chemists and keep yours handy for when/if you get it. Not very 'society orientated' but hey ho...
NB: For anyone that thinks they have it then get your Tamiflu quickly - it's a prophylactic rather than a cure.
I think the genetic code has been identified now so production of swine flu vaccines is underway - not sure to what level though. I'll find out next week. Again though; I'd imagine that if it mutates then the current vaccines would/may be useless anyway???

Sure there's enough tamiflu, but if we use it when we don't need to the viruses can develop resistance to it - I'd rather keep it for an avian flu epidemic - that WILL be more lethal. Vaccine production is ongoing, but they're using capacity for producing seasonal vaccine to produce swine flu vaccine - there isn't the capacity to do both. This is why we might get lucky though as the vaccine will target antigens on the outside of the virus which will be common to all mutations of H1N1. There's already a vaccine designed for the likely common H5N1 viruses.

You bunch of wankers, call yourselves Englishmen? Make a strong mug of tea and read the newspaper back-to-front, then it will give up and go away.
That would be my prescription.

You can't call it swine flu anymore because of it upsetting all the mooslims. The Express said so.
