Watchmen - Snider had a really good stab at it but ultimately proved all the people that said it was unfilmable right.
Day of The Triffids on IV4 - Boss, boss boss. Scared me shitless as a nipper. Had nightmares about killer lillies last night.
Up - Stupendous.

I genuinely can't wait for Up.
It's the only film I'm at all bothered about this summer.

Watchmen was excellent. No more unfilmable than Lord Of The Rings - but film is a different media and you need to forget you read the book when you go in.

The Bored of the Rings trilogy made me want to slit Peter Jackson's throat.

The Railway Children (original with Jenny Agutter as Bobbie) was the best film adaptation of a book.

The Godfather and The Godfather Part II turned a rubbish, pulpy airport novel into high art.

FACT 'Touching the void' was probably the worst adaptation of an overrated book.

FACT 'Touching the void' was probably the worst adaptation of an overrated book. It also managed to trigger Joe Simpson's Post-traumatic Stress Disorder while he was filming it. I quite liked the book and the film though.
