The first half was OK with some decent individual performances. We knocked the ball around with confidence and were unlucky not to be winning at half time. So, why did we fall apart in the second half when the game was there for the taking?
The second half performance was truly shambolic. It was as bad as i've seen us play in a long long time and we allowed Rovers back into a game that we had controlled in the previous 45.
Dorrans played a reasonable game and wanted to be involved. Scharner was OK and so was Tamas until he stupidly got himself sent off. Morrison was fine in the first half and Mulumbu did what Mulumbu usually does. Tchoyi played with his heart on his sleeve in the first half despite his lack of pace. The rest really need to hang their heads.
Odemwingie was totally ineffective in both halves and was never where we needed him and was just not at the races. Maybe he's still not fully match fit, but if I was RDM he would not start against United.
Jara was woeful. He can't put a decent cross in to save his life and too many passes go astray and he lacks pace. Bench him on Saturday and play Reid. Jara the hothead needs a kick up the backside. He's not good enough right now.
Then there's Carson. Could have done better with the first and didn't command his area for the next two. Almost gifted Rovers a fourth too. Really, this was a poor poor performance from him. What's the point in having Myhill if he doesn't get get a chance when Carson plays poorly?
So, for me, i'd play Myhill, Reid, Cech and Miller against United on Saturday. I'd have played Bednar in preference to Miller, but he's not around is he :-( Jara, Shorey and Carson would be on the bench, but Odemwingie can do extra training. Brunt would also return in place of Tchoyi.
Will RDM have the bottle to make changes? I hope so, because we need to stop the rot and only decisive management can do that.
