It's a shame you'd rather try and score points than engage in the debate. I thought better of you than that. Just because DIM doesn't spout any crap about "projects" and "philosophies" does not mean he hasn't got time for Brom fans. If anything, I have more respect for him. A man of few words. I'm not saying it's all rosy but you have to put into context how many defenders we have out. Also Wingie is not all that he was cracked up to be. Consequently we are struggling. We need to alter our set up. Play Dorrans higher FFS

The only opinion worth an iota of credence on this thread is 'that the next few games are crucial'. Until those are out the way it's just a load of hot air and speculation.
No-ne knows what's likely to happen on the transfer or personnel front anymore than they do what will happen in these fixtures. So what if we had a great run with a fit squad - we're now having a shit one with a patchwork squad. Wolves have pretty much done the same thing in reverse.
Don't forget that they're still below us. I don't here much towel-throwing from anyone over there at present.

Di Matteo's role as 'Head Coach' makes him a lot more expendable too, as removing him won't really involve major upheaval, all he's responsible for is training and picking the team Interesting post. This paragraph is certainly spot on. Marten Jol, anyone?

"Also Wingie is not all that he was cracked up to be."
People mocked me for saying that he was a gamble.
Hopefully, from now on, they'll start to listen to sense.

People mock you for repeatedly saying the same thing. Besides saying that the signing of a striker in his late 20s from a Russian side who has no previous experience in England and a bit of a history of the odd injury is a gamble doesn't make you Nostradamus does it?

Nor that huge wads of dosh we don't have will attract Torres and other high-class strikers to a side tipped for relegation pre-season.

Wingie IMHO is still way better than anything we've had up front before in the prem and an absolute steal for the price we paid for him. I think he's suffering from a few things at the moment, burnout due to playing without a break for over a year now, lack of support/service in recent games from midfield and lack of confidence. He shouldn't be written off just because of a few poorer games. Still think we need someone else up there though as an alternative to take the pressure off him.

Half the jigsaw was complete in that Odemwingie looks to be the decent striker that we needed. But, as I foretold, we'd need (at least) two strikers to make us competitive. I mean, just look at the turds he has to put up with alongside him up front! It's no wonder that he's stopped performing.
Lazy summer = winter struggle.

Lazy summer = winter struggle. That Winter Struggle just needs a good pre-season. I agree we naturally do need better options upfront. It is getting it/them that is obviously the problem and is for every team.

Maybe I should have been more specific (I do apologise profusely). I meant the amouth of times he's played alongside (on the same pitch) as turds. And my do we have some useless turds.

We should really have started the season following promotion by a Championship side with a full squad of premiership quality players, naturally.

Signing shit that would barely be capable in the Championship would have been a good start. Along with getting rid of shit that would be nowhere near good enough.

Carson Cech Fortune Barnes Zuiverloon
But to name a few.

I think calling Cech a turd is harsh in the extreme given the way he has generally performed for us this season.
So taking him and Carson out of the equation how many times has Odemwingie played with the other turds on your list.

He wasn't lacking support nor service vs Bolton and Man Utd, nor for much of the Blackburn game. Lack of confidence is certainly an issue, niggling injury may be another and I think he needs a break for a while.

Ah, but, if you give him a break then which of our super summer signings (tm) would you bring in to replace him knowing that they would be capable of putting points on the board?

Probably not. We're on a terrible run, probably worse than anything we've had in the last 15 years, and it shows no sign of ending. It's at times like these when you need experience to help get us out of it. He has none. Currently, the players are taking most of the blame, but that's very generous, considering most of the problems are down to basic organization. Something that should be worked on during the week in training. He doesn't enjoy the adulation of the fans, either. He's never been embraced and had songs sung about him in the same way that Mowbray or Megson did. This means that unless results improve, then Peace will surely act. We've invested more money in this Prem season than any other, so I think he'll be pretty ruthless in trying to ensure that we maintain our status. Di Matteo's role as 'Head Coach' makes him a lot more expendable too, as removing him won't really involve major upheaval, all he's responsible for is training and picking the team, and our results are showing how well he's doing that currently. I predict he'll be gone at the end of Feb, after our home defeat to the dingles. A slight shame, but there's nothing endearing about him, he's not bothered about us as fans, or our club (not that the vast majority of managers are, but he's never tried to pretend otherwise). He didn't even sack that waste of spunk Robson after he took them down.
