For me Dan Ashworth and Steve Clarke are spot on.... In previous years Pre Odemwingie we've been desperate for goals in the prem. we never had them and suffered the consequences.
A 4 of Odemwingie, Long, Rosenberg and another for me is top draw for a club our size and stature. I say 'another' as I have a sneaky feeling we will be on the look out for someone else up top in addition to Rosenberg.
Rosenberg for me is a better MAF (target man with goals) Cox is going so there will be room for 'another' poacher type....with potentially 2mill to spend on him.
I reckon MAF will also go along with Cox if we find a poacher.
If we don't Odemwingie, Long, Rosenberg and MAF will do for me.

I think Saido may make a breakthrough too. Wood will go on loan I guess.

Someone will on the back of the Olympics, his international record and goals in the champ. Wish him well. If he was at the Albion 10 Years ago he'd have been an Albion legend!!!! What I mean by that is that we were so shit he'd have been a star amongst the crap

Had it been this time last year then i would have said keep Cox and sell Fortune to make room for Rosenburg. Marco's performances since his loan spell have been more effective than Simon's, in my opinion. So on that basis its Cox out first.
I would move Marco on as well if we could bring in another striker, but i can't see that happening, to be honest. I think Rosenburg will be our final signing in the striker department.
As for Woody then i would keep him for another season, farm him out on loan to a decent Championship club, and see if he can develop a bit more. Still time for Chris to blossom, for me.

That's my point....I see Rosenberg as a MAF replacement not a Cox replacement due to style and strengths. Club listened to Roy...he stated MAF would be judged long term on whether he was worth a stay...we could still sell him for nominal fee along with Cox IMO. Like for like....if this is what Clarke and Dan are doing....I'd hope Cox would be replaced by a poacher type.

At the minute Marco would be back up to Rosenberg in the event of injury/suspension/loss of form. He's far more suited to that role than either Odemwingie or Long IMO. Both seem more suited to the poachers role, taking on defenders with pace and trickery and scoring goals.
Long is decent in the air, but i'm not convinced by his hold up play, playing with his back to goal. For me it's Rosenburg/Fortune with Odemwingie/Long.

I think we'd struggle to find someone else with his (non-goalscoring) strengths.

Surely that assumes a 4-4-2, which Clarke seems unlikely to go with as his first choice formation. 4-3-3, with Odemwingie and Gera/Thomas off the main striker seems more likely. Obviously if/when we do play 4-4-2, I'd agree with that.

Rosenberg/Fortune as the hold up man, Odemwingie/Long coming in from the right, Gera/Thomas on the left. Where this leaves Chris Brunt is quite tricky. ;D

Do we need 4 "senior" strikers if we are playing 4-5-1? can we keep them all happy?

Everyone is talking about Rosenberg as a lone/hold up striker in the MAF role.
But i thought he has been used as an attacking wide player as well.
If Clarke is thinking along the lines of a 433/451 formation, then that would seem more likely.
Could see him being very dangerous getting on the end of crosses at the far post.

Good point, the four we have should give us the required quality. Will be interesting to see how Clarke lines them up and uses them. Odemwingie, Rosenberg, Long and Fortune give us decent depth and hopefully a variey of play that will suit changes in tactics and formations.

What about the new winger?

What about the new winger? Young and quite raw by all accounts, but i'm sure he will get game time as back up for Thomas/Gera etc. If he comes in and is more effective and consistent than either then i'm sure he'll get an extended run.

Chris Wood to go out on loan for me, plenty of time for him to develop his game. I'd quite like to see him go on a season long loan somewhere where he will be playing week in week out and if he starts scoring regularly, get him playing in the 2013/2014 season.
And who knows, if we get relegated next season, he will surely be our new number 9 and will play every game. We have plenty of young players good enough for the champ.
