What's with the sudden desperation to get rid of MAF? Some people on here seem to be taking delight in the fact we have signed a "replacement" for him.
I have nothing but praise for the guy... he knows he's not first choice but doesn't unsettle anyone or play up... instead he goes out on loan to a small club which a lot of big time Prem players would turn their noses up at, plays really well and forces himself back into the side.
Since he came into the team our performances improved and he offered a dimension we were missing... Plus, if you look at the Opta stats for his creativity and defensive work he's a real asset to our team, maybe not as a starter, but as an option.
Sure he doesn't score THAT many goals, but he's got around 10 premier league goals in little under a full season of actual game time... For a player who probably isn't on huge money and has a great attitude I don't see the logic in trying to get rid of him.
There's probably at least 10 teams in the Prem who'd trade their strike forces for ours, if not more!

You hit the nail on the head with the goals. I'm. Going to give him my full support and not have a go at him at the slightest chance

Currently our most expensive striker in terms of transfer fee!

Well said, Clapham.
His showing at Stoke last season was described at the time (can't remember the source) as the most complete centre forward performance by an Albion player since Cyrill Regis - praise indeed. His hold up play and close ball control is phenomenal and definitely offers a unique dimension for certain games (especially away from the Hawthorns). Tbh I would rather keep him than Long at this point.

MAF at the Custard Bowl was unplayable. He was playing against a very poor side, granted, but he was a threat all game. Deserved a goal that day.

I'm one of, what i feel is, a minority who felt Marco did well in his loan spell under Mowbray. All round team performances picked up, he held the ball up well and chipped in with a few point winning goals that made the final few weeks a little closer than it possibly should have been. I was hoping we would sign him permemently the following season, but Celtic came in.
He bombed at Celtic by all accounts and that may well have affected his confidence when he first came back to us. First season back with us i felt he was poor, but after his loan spell last season he came back and rightfully won his place back on merit. He was very effective in the second half of last season.
Valued part of the current squad for me and i think he fully deserved his years contract extension.

Before he came in we had Luke fuggin Moore and Jay bloody Simpson leading the line ffs

A football club who wants to stay in the PL and challenge for the top half needs 4 decent strikers.
Last season we had Pete, Fortune, Long, and Cox. This season we'll have Long, Pete, Fortune and Rosenburg.
That is progress my friends.
We'd be fucking stupid to get rid of Fortune after the role he played in our finish to last season unless we found someone who was better.

Keep Fortuneh FFS. Rosenburg is a similar striker to him, and the guy thrives on competition. Sell Cox quite honestly. He's not Premier League quality, well certainly, not where we want to be in the next few years anyway.
