Technically they are one and the same but pricer. It just mean whether the LCD tv has a LED backlight.
Two models, 1 is edge lit, the other is full array lit.
LCD normally is just fluorescent lit.
Edge lit are thinner and cheaper, fully array will give you better picture quality.
Depends on your budget I suppose.

John Lewis faw shaw. 5 year guarantee included in the price.
Samsung or LG.
Ensure it is FULL HD (1080p) and not HD ready (720p)
I recently bought a 46" Samsung Smart TV ex-demo from them for £599 (inc the 5 year guarantee). Smart TV has apps to Like film Ypotube etc.
Then I bought a panasonic bluray player (with dvd upgrade built in). The upgrade converts DVD's to almost HD quality. Cost £80.

As above, LED usually just means backlit, which provides a better picture.
OLED should be the next big thing once the prices come down and sizes go up. Credit card thin and bendable. Just imagine the possibilities!?
Oh yeah and eventually UHDTV (Ultra High Definition) which has 16 times the number of pixels of existing 1080p HDTV with up to 7680×4320 resolution. Plus 3D tellies without the need for glasses is being pushed through.
