Second favourite? How? What is that based on? His inexperience as a number one I guess?
I really am gobsmacked why some people see our current squad as relegation certs...

No mention of Laudrup and Hughton? No-one thinks Rodgers has been promoted above his ability? Lambert struggling to drag a performance out of that shit squad? McDermott suffering at the hands of impatinet new owners?
Utter bollox.

As I said, Di Matteo.
The reason for Clarke's odds? Simple - no previous managerial experience.

There's an article in todays Racing Post , citing that Rodgers may not be as good as everyone thinks he will be

Rodgers - big fish in a little pond. Martinez did all the donkey work at Swansea at Rodgers just had a bit of luck.
Personally, I don't rate him but have far more respect for him than his vile predecesser. As he's at LIverpool, I hope he fails miserably.

What about the crack, back and sack race?
I'd imagine Martinez is quite hairy so that may be mandatory for him?
But then you get the feeling AVB does it for fun.
Also you wouldn't want to lump on this one.

Not convinced he'll see the season out with us.

Agree, and I'm not convinced by the appointment but time will tell. He needs to be given a chance.
I would not waste any money on those odds, but I think if it was Monopoly money I'd go for 'Big Spam'

Adkins great price at 6s...rumours were new owners looking a big name as soon as they were promoted!!! I'd say he will be given 10 games to prove he can cut it or he will be chopped

Second favourite? How? What is that based on? His inexperience as a number one I guess? I really am gobsmacked why some people see our current squad as relegation certs... Quite. Some of the bullshit - and general negativity - being spouted about Clarke, amazes me. We will never know for sure - given how much of a lid Ashworth and Peace rightly kept on matters - but it seems he was one of the favoured candidates all through the long process. Once again, it needs reiterating to some that what we were looking for was a Head Coach - not a manager. That limited our field to the few who fill a similar position in this country - all in lower leagues, and thus without the necessary top-level experience - an experienced Premier League coach looking to move up, or a foreign coach. It would take an abysmal run before Christmas for Clarke to be sacked first - something on a par with Giles in 85/86 or Buckley in 95/96.

Good post Shep.
We lost Somen, Andrews, Scharner, Shorey and Mattock Gained El Ghanassy, Yacob and Rosenberg We also have Gera to return and hopefully stay injury free. Also Long was out for a chunk last season so hope he can also remain injury free this season also. Surely the above would put us in a better position squad wise than last season and with 3 more more weeks to go until the window closes there is likely to be more a few more coming and going

There's no doubt in my mind that the squad is at least as strong as least season's and IF some of the new additions come off then we'll be stronger. The rest is left to the leadership of Clarke. So we'll see.

Shrek - no. My point here is that we've kept hold of the spine; Foster, Olsson, Mulumbu and Odemwingie. So, that said, we are as strong as last season so should finish in a similar(ish) position. The new additions could spur us on, but we'll see.
Anyway, thanks for the compliment. I think. ;D

Still don't like Peace but even I can see that the club is well run in terms of a business.
Clarke - jury's out and why shouldn't it be? His appointment was a risk in my opinion and he'll be looking to win over the fans. He's paid enough, has talked the talk so now it's time to deliver.
Players - they're paid a ludicrous amount of money for doing not much at all so yes, why shouldn't I expect them to perform and criticise as a paying punter (although not a regular one) when they do not perform.
