....never seem to be ready to go. We have made 3 new additions along side the permanant signing of Fozzie. All three have come with the tag of "give him time" or "be patient". I am by nature positive about the club and their dealings, but this does bug me somewhat.

Foster was injured but is fine now.
El Ghanassy is very young and has a lot to learn. That is why the club play down expectation.
Yacob has crossed continents and has a whole new culture to take in, privately and in his job! You can't expect him to perform immediately.
Rosenberg was a free and unattached this summer. He hasn't had a club to train with so he needs to come up to speed.
We look for value without a transfer fee, this means players may not have joined pre-season training at a club so need to catch up with us. I have no issue with it, our recruitment policy has been fantastic in recent seasons.

No I agree 100% re: our policy on how we spend our resources. BUT, it would be nice for us to sign a player who our head coach says "we've signed a player who is ready to go and is going to be a massive player for us"

I'm happy with signings...a step up from last year...so we progress. If wewere able to sign finished articles then you'd hear it from club. But we can't so players all have element of risk attached to them.

Shane Long, MaCauley were both ready to go last season (along with Foster)
Looking at this seasons signings, we've signed them a lot earlier than we traditionally sign players (ie end of August) - all looks good imo

The early nature of the signings is waht has really pleased me. Normally we are 3 or 4 games into the season before our deals are done. How nice not to have to fit them in on the fly.

Think we will miss Scharner unless Yacob turns out to be a presence. Scharner used to lift the team when we were struggling, can't see who else we've got to do that now apart from Olsson.

Scharner would have played central defence if he stayed so not relevant

We are going to regret it on 31st August. Nothing like rumours of a late late signing to keep us on the edge of our seats! "This better be good, I've just told the wife to put her knickers back on". The all-time board classic IMO.
