With my beloved Seattle Mariners opening the MLB season with a game in Tokyo against the A's tomorrow morning I thought it would be a good time to start this thread.
As usual, I expect absolutely nothing from the Mariners this year as we have yet another 'development' season coming up when we will be trying out a plethora of kids from the minor leagues or our AAA team in Tacoma to see if any of them are any good. Anything better than a 62-100 season will be a bonus as far as I am concerned and if we can avoid equalling last year's streak of 17 consecutive games that would be great.
Will be weird not to have Ichiro as the lead off hitter - but the great man is pretty much done and his productivity last year was his lowest ever. Hopefully Chone Figgins can get his career back on track, although the 'boo boys' at Safeco Field are never far from getting on his case and hopefully Dustin Ackley can maintain his form from the back end of last season.
Prediction for the season ahead - really don't care who wins it all as long as it isn't the Wankees, the Red Sucks or any of the other money merchants and their legion of glory hunting fans!
Only going to 1 game this year - Rockies v Marlins when I am in Denver in August.
Batter up :-)

Probably, in retrospect, not deserving of the 'glory hunting' tag - but it does surprise me how many UK fans they have. Might just be me being biased because of how nasty a place Fenway Park is for visiting fans, although it is nowehere near as bad as Lincoln Financial Field where you get as much **** chucked over you as you do at the Molly Dump.

Now that I do agree with, I was quite surprised myself at the stick visiting fans got. Whether it's because they don't get many visiting fans i'm not sure. Nothing like being a Jets fan coming to the Patriots though. I was genuinely amazed as the anger there, certainly similar to being a dingle in the Albion end.

Probably a divisional thing, as I watched the Giants win at Foxborough in November and didn't have any problem - visits to the Linc as a Giants fan need to be done in clothing that you don't want to keep after the game though

You rounders clique fans will be pleased to know that I finally got round to buying Mets v Phillies tickets last week.
$11 each off of StubHub. Eleven fucking dollars! Block 521 row 1.
I'm looking forward to breaking my baseball virginity. I only need to understand the rules now. Do they have an LBW rule?

Up in the Gods. You'll have a good view. Looks like you're level with 3rd base.

First game was As v Mariners in 2005.Ichiro was playing but lets say had a very quiet game. Later that month saw Mets vs Phillies with Bertram in fine form. Not been to any game since.

I'm hopeful that the Brewers will win the NL Central again this year. Pitching line-up is slightly improved but with Greinke fit from the off this time, we should get a better start. We've lost big Prince but have recruited well in other areas, and defensively are way stronger. I don't think we'll match the 96 wins of last year, but may not need to. Depends how the Card's get over losing Albert and how OJ Braun reacts to his welcome on the 81 road trips. In other news, it's Magic for the LA Dons mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120327&content_id=27685944&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb

Question about this Dodgers business, where are they going to play? I didn't read the full link so apologies but I heard this morning that the stadium has been bought by someone else? Are they just going to rent it?

Excellent opening game by King Felix, although we are very much going to miss michael pineda in our pitching rotation this year. The quality of our batting, which was the worst in the MLB last year, doesn't look like it has improved much Extra innings coming up, but i've got a meeting to go to in a minute Time to hit pause on mlb.tv and watching the extra innings later

Judging by the language being used on this thread I'm going to struggle at Citi Field.
I'll just eat a cheeseburger, drink beer and shout 'Go Mets!' at semi-regular intervals. That should cover me.

Shake Shack Fries, my friend. There's a big beer stand right behind it. Take ID. They will ID you. Take out a mortgage too if you fancy a few beers.

Do they sell peanuts and cracker jack? Of course they do. They shout and pass along the line money like in the movies too. I'm being serious.
