Reading the papers and various sites....in summary.... Owen (pay as you play etc) Lakuka (loan) A left back to challenge Ridgewell..... Keeping olsson....big ask, but you never know! Added to those already arrived....I'd be on the beers! Owen as long as pay as you play or similar terms....no brainer! I'd love him...shirt sales through the roof and another 1k on the gate I reckon. Get 20-25 games out of him you'd get 8-12 goals!!! Our medical team would suit him too. Lakuka....chelsea lad...spelling? Clarke must know bits about him...he has something to prove in prem! A left Back, young eager....in the jones mould...lower leagues will do! Leaving us to say goodbye to Cox and Wood and another maybe Dorrans? Like I said.....on the piss if that all happens....would it or can it get better for WBA?

Owen - no way. What would his motivation be to play for Albion?? He should stick to w*nking over race horses.
I said ages ago that Cox and Wood would never make it - useless players.

So if Owen was prepared to come on basic terms with big bonuses for playing and goals you'd say no? Amazed..... I'd love to see him down the Albion on the right terms to suit both us and him.....

The motivation would be that he needs to get in the side to earn the bucks!!! No way would WBA agree to anything more....

His basic terms would probably be above what we would pay.
You have to think that Owen knows his own body so would probably envisage being injured for some, if not most, of the season so a pay-as-you-play deal would hardly suit him.
He'd be after big bucks and I wouldn't want our club to pander to his needs.

So for me it's a win win either way.

Yes, I know what you're saying which is exactly the reason he won't come on that sort of deal.

Personally I wouldn't be keen. He doesn't strike me as the 'Indian Summer' type and I fear we'd spend more time discussing his match fitness, or lack of it, than his contribution to the goals-for column. Plus, as a club, we don't need to get all starry-eyed over the likes of Owen; we're a more confident bunch these days. Put him out to pasture at QPR, Reading or wherever, and let's bring in a striker with genuine promise.

You never know....who would have thought a current argentine midfielder would come to WBA....question....was Clarke at Newcastle when Owen was there??? Answer? If yes....v.interesting!!!

No, he wasn't at Toon at the same time. He joined the Chelsea ranks in 2004 I believe, whereas Owen signed for Toon in 2005.

Just out of interest, just how much would Clarke know about Lukaku given that Chelsea signed him three years after Clarke left there?

The bloke has scored five League goals in three years, spending the majority of his time on the bench or the treatment table. If his name wasn't Michael Owen, we'd be cursing the idea.

If Owen's attitude in tha Toon is anything to go by, he'll be keeping Bully's osses more company than our first team squad

No way Owen would be considered, he's heart isn't in it any more, he is more injury prone than we could deal with, even with our medical team. And the key part of his game has deserted him, unless he pushes it to the limit and then he breaks down for 3 months.
At his peak was one of the best strikers England have ever had and may ever have, his peak was very young and lasted for a very short time though.

If the club want to look at Owen fair enough. However I don't think he has any motivation and wouldn't contribute anything. He's been happy enough to get paid at Man U for doing nothing.

Owen is still a good player for me. If terms were right, I say go for it. He's a lot younger than when Super Kev came to us and our similar players

As much as I think he would do a job for us, the money it would cost us could be spent on someone who will score goals for the next few seasons.
