The Sun at Romsley has a brilliant garden for the kids and a really pleasant outside seating area.
Decent, well priced food with bog standard Banks's pub beers.

It's alright, not too far out but far enough to be in the trees.

Thanks Is the Wacky Warehouse at the Oldbury M5 junction 'idyllic'? I've actually given this 5 minutes thought and can't think of one which is both idyllic and has a playground.

Over processed, microwaved 3663 2 for 1 food with appalling Banks's pub beers. I've corrected that for you. Soph is right. Idyllic and playgrounds don't go together. My kids are happy if they're fed proper food at The Fountain or Bell & Cross (Clent), Chequers (Cutnall Green) or the Nailers Arms (Bournheath). The Nailers has a particularly good range of proper beer.

He said he wanted a drink in a beer garden where the kids could play, not a gastronomic expirience whilst marking half pints off in a CAMRA book ;D

Little further than 15miles but Plough at Claverley is good, touch expensive but worth it. Has a garden and is kid friendly.

However, if he wants an experience similar to The Sun I suggest he nips down to Farmfoods, pulls a couple of random products from the freezer, microwaves, plates up, pisses in a glass, sits back, relaxes and watches the kids play on slide in the back garden. Save the petrol.
