Inspired by the country pub thread I'm thinking of taking my missus in t'Salop as I've heard Ludlow has some decent places to eat.
Any restaurant recommends? And country pubs too? Or, in fact, anywhere near Symonds Yat?

Isn't Ludlow supposed to be a real gastro's delight? I've heard very good things about it. I'm no expert (for once) on this region but I'm sure you'll find somewhere that's suitable. Nice place, Ludlow.

Mr Underhills. You will have to book. Best restaurant I've ever been too.

Nowe be completely hoest with me lad, so you ever see anything on these investigations. I've watched many such things on TV where they go to the most haunted places on earth and get diddly (unless you count the voice threads which are usually nonsense which they here as "Put the kettle on if you're staying".

Or, in fact, anywhere near Symonds Yat? Try the Saracens Head at Symonds Yat, next to the river and they serve great food. Used to stop at the place when i was into messing about with canoes. Really good value. The best boozer was The Old Ferry Inn, but that was 3 years ago so a few others may have more recent experiences.

I assume there's something on in Ludlow because there are only shit hotels and top, top prices available on laterooms. Symonds Yat it is - looking at a cottage to book. Now then, surprise the missus or give her a nod to let her know we're getting away (without the nipper)?

I have done quite a few of them and cannot watch Most Haunted as a result. We have a little girl that wonders around our house in Edwardian clothes me and my wife have seen her a few times. As for the investigations Ive seen a sillouette of a man in a top hat move slowly along the wall of a room. Ive also seen Rings being twisted off peoples fingers. The noises etc can usually be explained the problem is Most Haunted is set up to entertain so everything they put down to the paranormal. When you get proper unexplained smells and sounds then it really is fascintating. Ive been to places that have been very active then been back to the same place a year later or so and nothing. Dudley Castle being a prime example of that. The four most active places ive been too are Feathers Hotel, Galleries of Justice in Nottingham, Alton Towers (nasty and would never do it again and im not one to be flustered at these places) and The Courthouse in Dudley.

Get on Nicks ebay, stock up on second hand anne summers gear and a big bottle of slide and glide then give her an hours notice so he can prune all of the important bits.

Hey Dudleylad,
Are you part of a group or go to events like frightnights etc?
I am quite keen on paranormal stuff so if you could pm me with details of any groups you are in that would be fantastic.
I have done Dudley Castle myself but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Try the Boot Inn Orleton , about 5 miles out of Ludlow , also in town centre the Church is a good pub and if you like Indian food the Golden Moments is good but a bit pricey

If you really want posh, try La Becasse in Ludlow itself ... the best value is if you go for lunch (thats what we did) ... the evenings can be horribly expensive. The food was brilliant, and whilst expensive it was a real experience.

Not a restaurant, but I have been to both the Spring (May) and the Food Festival (2nd or 3rd week in Sept) for the past few years. There's a really nice atmosphere, loads of free tasters and a large amount of real ale and cider. It's also very MCW.

A more reasonable alternative is The Clive, next door to the Ludlow food centre. Great food, great atmosphere and they love kids.
Otherwise The Crown at Hopton Wafers is worth a visit.
