Gather you are on about that she may finally leave this mortal coil. Just read about the Twitter calls for a celebration on her death. It's a bit tasteless and pointless IMHO. However, must admit when the IRA nearly got her in Brighton I would have celebrated at that time, being a typical working class 18 year old. Thatcher's death, well into her 80s, will be nothing to celebrate and I'm sure her legacy will be disected thoroughly. Her policies divided Britain like no other and pushed all politics to the right. However, I don't doubt now that Britain needed a shake up then and she has probably done as much good as bad. Amazing though that as someone in such poor health she is still hanging on. I'm sure if a woman in her condition was at Sandwell General from the start she would be long gone now. Money is a great solution for extending life - just ask the Royals.

I'll be opening a bottle of champagne that I've had in the fridge for a few years when she pops.

I'll be opening a bottle of champagne that I've had in the fridge for a few years when she pops. That's just wrong. What is the matter with you? You shouldn't keep champagne in the fridge for a long time - it'll be knackered. Get a nice new bottle in and one of those bottle shaped gel packs in the freezer. You'll have to delay the popping of the cork for fifteen minutes, but that's nothing compared to the years we've all been waiting for already.

I'm no Thatch fan , never voted for her, never liked her but still find some of this celebrating her death thing ( when it happens ) to be a tad bizarre.
Most of the Thatch haters on here weren't even born when she was in power . I'm saving my celebration drink for Gerry Adams. I can think of 21 reasons in Birmingham for starters

Keep champagne ready for her and by the time she karks it, the champagne's off. GAAAAH.

Celebrating the death of anyone is wrong, but someone whose politics you might not agree with ... come on!
Many many people both righ wing and left wing have done what some consider wrong, but I would celebrate those righting the wrongs rather than those departing the life that gave us the wrongs.

Is good stuff, but I prefer Thatcher's Dry which they sell in my local but you don't see many other places. Heritage is your old school cider cider, Cheddar Valley sets my teef on edge.

Thatcher helped "mother" Britain into an unhappier and more venal place, if that isn't a contradiction in terms. Still, people could consider stopping up and contemplating the passing of a soul.

I don't even understand what that means but I'll use it when I next need some small talk at my next dinner party.

I have no doubt there will be many who will be dancing on her grave. It says more about them than it does about her.
Thatcher's legacy began long before she was elected in 1979. Her politics were born out of the frustration of a post-war consensus that had left Britain as a hollowed out shell. If you want to look at the true villians in this piece read your history about the people who truly destroyed our industry by holding back technological developments and productivity reform, and held our country to ransom for for a 21% pay rise in 1972.
It was another strong conviction female politician who started the process Thatcher finished. Her name was Barbara Castle, and she was hardly a Tory was she? How many of you were popping the corks when she died? Not many.

She may have achieved good things (I don't entirely agree with that, but I'll go along with it for the time being), but there was no need to achieve good things in an evil way. The end did not justify Thatcher's means. I'll dance.
